Final Nominations in Avant Garde Bloggies Awards – 2009

About 300 Participants and 700 + nominations. Pruned down finally to 300+ in compliance with rules.

Note: 1. All series posts ( For example, Part 1, 2, 3 of a travel and story post) will be treated as one.

2. One person is eligible for nominations only in three categories. For those of you, who did not respond to emails from us, I have taken decision on my own.

3. Exception to Rule 2: It is only the people with several blogs have got 4 nominations. Avdi/Ava is an exception, she had 4 different niche blogs, hence, has got 5 nominations.

4. If you see an error in names of author or any duplication, let us know. Half of you didn’t let us know about the author of the posts, we have included what we could find from the blog.

5. All posts nominated in the categories of Best Consumer Rights Post and Best Music Review Post will directly go to polls (skipping the judgment step), since there are only 5/6 valid nominations in these categories.

6. Now this is over to judges listed here. They will take 15 days. After that there will be poll. It will take some time to decide, please bear with me with patience.

Next year, process needs to be automated, this is no longer one person job. Requires a team of dedicated people and processes. Would seek help from techies next year. Thanks! :)

  1. 1 Lagunatic February 2, 2010 at 12:35 am

Vote for me! And, I promise to be nicer to my husband…and kids for that matter ;)

Really, I’m just amazed at being nominated! Thank you!!!

  2. 3 BlueMist February 2, 2010 at 12:38 am

The post title should be “The broken chime” instead of “the broken china”. Can you please correct it ? Thank you very much.

  3. 4 Pal February 2, 2010 at 12:48 am

Thanks so much, folks, for doing such a great job on compiling all the nominations. Just a teeny tiny query here – my Fiction post (HOUSE OF THE SUNK) has appeared under ‘Best Personal Rant’. Is that where it was nominated? Please could you check for me? Thanks a ton!!

    • 5 Poonam February 2, 2010 at 12:54 am

Yes Pal, that is what it was nominated for. Would you like to change the category? If yes, say so now since judges haven’t started right at this moment.

  4. 6 Radha February 2, 2010 at 2:51 am

Hey Poonam! Am amazed at the amount of effort you’ve put in to compile a list like this.. Its exhaustive! I admire your hard work that’s gone into this and wish you good luck :)

  5. 7 Smitha February 2, 2010 at 3:08 am

Poonam, It must have been such a task putting all this together!

    And thank you for nominations.

Also, Pal’s Post Mother’s Day’ has been mistakenly credited to me.

  6. 9 willowbatel February 2, 2010 at 5:02 am

I got tired just looking for my nominations so I can’t imagine how many hours it must have taken for you to compile the list. Thank you very much; I’m honored to even be on the list :)

  7. 10 tikulicious February 2, 2010 at 7:37 am

Hi Poonam , what a commendable effort you have put. I was happy to find my name here. Read some of the posts today. Great writing. Wishing everyone the very best. It really feels wonderful to be among such fine bloggers. thanks again

  8. 11 gauri February 2, 2010 at 8:46 am

    Poonam,

Just this narrowed down list looks so exhaustive to me! I can’t even begin to imagine the effort gone into doing the groundwork, getting nominations, (dis)qualifying posts and shortlisting it. And doing all this voluntarily, AFTER the travails of real life takes something!

I think you and your team deserve an award in itself. Terrific work, guys…really!

    g

  9. 12 umsreflections February 2, 2010 at 9:48 am

Finalllyyyyy … :D … Three cheers for everyone …

  20. 23 Swaram February 2, 2010 at 12:05 pm

Thanks a lot Poonam .. just one doubt .. sorry if its silly :P
Am nt sure if there’s any filtering in the 2nd category .. Hypermom had nominated me for ‘Most Disciplined Blogger’. I don’t find my name in that category though.

    • 24 Swaram February 2, 2010 at 12:09 pm

And may nt matter, but under responsive blogger, TheSongofLife and Swaram .. both same and I think 5 ppl hv nominated for me .. HyperMom, Deeps, Smithu, Anish and Solilo. Thanks :)

    • 25 Poonam Sharma February 2, 2010 at 12:34 pm

Added your name in Disciplined Category. No reason for filtering there.

As for number of times a person has been nominated, can be erroneous since few volunteers while pruning did not take into account the number of times nominations happened. However, as you point out it is immaterial since it has no bearing on judgment or results.

Thanks for pointing out the duplication. :)

  21. 26 Rashmi February 2, 2010 at 12:28 pm

I m elated to see my name in list..
And what a commendable effort from you and your team…you guys truely deserve award for this work itself…
I hope ppl vote for me :-)

  22. 27 maya / uncommon February 2, 2010 at 12:43 pm

  23. 28 Swaram February 2, 2010 at 1:24 pm

Wow I am super duper excited about my article getting nominated under the ‘Best Personal Post’ category.
All the best to everyone and may the best win.

  25. 30 Rachna Parmar February 2, 2010 at 2:28 pm

    Hi,

Extremely thrilled about the nomination of my posts. Just a small correction, author name is Rachna Parmar not Rachana Parmar. Thanks a ton for your huge effort and the encouragement.

  26. 32 Anand February 2, 2010 at 2:46 pm

Hey, To be nominated feels grt. To be nominated thrice must mean I must be doin’ some thin’ right.

May I point out a slight mistake, though? The name of my nominated post is ‘How I made 500 Rs in 10 minutes’. It’s 500 not 50. Inflation dropped in ur blog I see. Lol. Wud appreciate the correction. Thanx.

On different thoughts…Goin’ thru such massive no.of blogs require a hell lotta patience and aspirins. U guys doin a grt job. Kudos. Well done. :-)

And now I’m crossing my fingers and everything else that can be crossed and wait in anticipation. *wink.

  27. 34 scorpiogenius February 2, 2010 at 2:50 pm

Hey, happy to find my name there! But that’s an almighty effort finding all the bloggers and putting up their lists and links..Hats off. Sure, this has taken some serious time!

Thanks to those who’ve nominated my name and posts, under 3 categories
    # Most responsive blogger
    # Best professional blogger and
    # Best public interest blog

    Thank you, and am haaaaaaaaaaapy! :) :) :) :)

  28. 35 D February 2, 2010 at 3:26 pm

I finally found what I’ve been nominated for! Yay!

  29. 36 Shail February 2, 2010 at 3:53 pm

The stupendous effort this seems to have entailed deserves appreciation. Kudos for the patience and the effort of those involved.
I see my name up there and it is indeed gratifying. Thanks to those who nominated.

Awesome work. Kudos once again Poonam.

  30. 37 Nu February 2, 2010 at 4:31 pm

Great job guys ! The team rocks :)

  31. 38 Nancy February 2, 2010 at 4:49 pm

I’m flabbergasted at finding myself nominated especially since I havent done anything to promote myself here. Thank U!!!

Ummm…u’ve nominated me twice under the humourous post category for the same post[once as Reflections and once as Nancy]. I have no problems about it if u dont :-D

  32. 40 Phoenixritu February 2, 2010 at 4:54 pm

Thanks for listing me in so many categories…. for once, and I promise you it happens rarely, I am speechless.

Need to point out one thing though : my blog comes twice in the best design – once by the name of Ritu and once by the name of Weaving a Web. Could you check that out please?

  33. 42 superindiankid February 2, 2010 at 5:08 pm

Wow!! Feel like a winner already!! Thanks a ton!! :D
And Kudos to u and your team!!! :)

  37. 46 Indian Homemaker February 2, 2010 at 11:03 pm

This is a lot of work… !!! Thanks for including me in this list :)

My blog post is “Sex EDUCATION has nothing to do with blue films”. ‘Education’ is missing… Ha ha, it really is but not my in my blog title ;)

In 2.2 Interesting Sidebar, Indian Home maker and IHM are listed separately so my blog is mentioned twice.

  38. 48 Crazy Sam February 3, 2010 at 1:09 am

Thanks a lot Poonam! I know this must have been really stressing for you.

  39. 49 Dr Roshan February 3, 2010 at 1:33 am

Poonam, seriously, hats off. To go thru all those articles and narrow it down.. I bow to thee :)

  40. 50 Srivalli February 3, 2010 at 11:38 am

This is really awesome. Great knowing that my post has been nominated. Thank you very much. I am kind of confused on the process. The final list will again be judged? When will reader get to nominate?

Also my post is Gulab Jamun Recipe for Indian Cooking Challenge. Do change it if you find it fit.

Thanks again. Looks like I have some thousands of blogs to read now..

    • 51 Poonam Sharma February 3, 2010 at 11:45 am

These posts will now be scored by two judges. Together they will select 6 best posts. These 6 posts will then be voted by the readers. Lot of work ahead.

I did not understand your reference about Gulab Jamun recipe post? Is this a new nomination you are suggesting?

  41. 52 Anand February 3, 2010 at 11:48 am

Hey Thanx Poonam. :-) Btw, can U n the other judges be bribed by any chance? *Wink.

  42. 54 willowbatel February 3, 2010 at 11:59 am

They only get to choose 6! Lol then there really isn’t any chance of my winning. *sigh* well thanks for the dream of it :)

  43. 56 gagrin February 3, 2010 at 4:20 pm

Its a splendid gr8 work that u and ur team has put behind this!!! Thanks for accepting my nomination in Best personal post – From 4 to 16 by Author: Jemal Desai :)

  44. 57 Gayatri February 3, 2010 at 5:27 pm

It came as a pleasant surprise to see a ping back on the final nomination of my story NINE LIVES here.

Thank you Pavan for your unwavering faith in my spooky story and nominating it here .It was equally thrilling to see nomination of my best friend Smita’s story SPELL here.

Congratulations team for your perseverance and endurance to bring the contest to this stage and take it ahead.

Good luck to all the participants. May the best entry/entries win :)

    Cheers,Gee.

  45. 58 kanagu February 3, 2010 at 9:46 pm

Thanks Poonam… I am really happy to see my name in the nominated list…. hats off to all you guys who are behind this…

    its a hell of a task…

One very small correction… in public interest post teh title is ‘Is it fair? let’s discuss’ but it was given above as ‘It’s fair.. let’s discuss’…

  46. 59 Lazy Pineapple February 4, 2010 at 12:05 am

Wow incredible Job Poonam…I am sure it must be a tough to sift through so many posts….

Thanks for all the hard work. I am waiting with fingers crossed now :)

  47. 60 sakshi February 4, 2010 at 2:07 am

For the first time I am short of words to comment  That was one herculean task you guys went through to compile such a list. Thanks a ton to you and all those who even thought of my posts eligible for an award. Will keep them now and won’t throw into a recycle bin ;)

  48. 61 Rachna Parmar February 4, 2010 at 10:06 am

    Hi Poonam,

How exactly does the polling process take place? You have said that we can spread the word for people to vote for our nominations but there is no link for any voting. Please clarify. Does the voting begin after 15 days?

    • 62 Poonam February 4, 2010 at 12:36 pm

Rachna, first judges will further read and sift through. They will select 6 best posts in each category. After that, those 6 posts will go for polls. So yes, polls will happen at least 15 days later on Avant Garde Bloggies Blog. I will update that here when judges are finished with their work.

  49. 63 Avada Kedavra February 4, 2010 at 10:50 am

Thanks so much Poonam for including my posts :) I am really happy to see my posts in the list. I am sure it must have taken a lot of time to compile this list.

One small doubt. I had nominated my blog for these four categories:

    Best Blog Design
    Most Responsive Blogger
    Most Beautiful Header
    Best About Me Page

but I dont see my name under “Best Blog Design”. Was there any filtering involved there or was the name not included by chance? Can you please add my blog under that category (if it wasnt filtered out) ?

    Thank you!

  50. 65 Dev February 4, 2010 at 4:10 pm

Thanks Poonam. Thanks for the nominations. :-)

  51. 66 Milana February 4, 2010 at 4:31 pm

    Hi Poonam,
I wanted to know if there will be a winner in each category or there will be one winner irrespective of the category as you mentioned that only 6 posts will go to the poll.

  52. 68 Nimmy February 4, 2010 at 6:56 pm

    • 89 Poonam Sharma March 1, 2010 at 6:05 pm

No, Anand, we are not done yet.
