Avant Garde Bloggies Awards – Results Tomorrow

Hi guys,

As scheduled, results for Avant Garde Bloggies Awards will be announced tomorrow on Visceral Observations.

1. For each category, one Winner and Runner-up will be announced.

2. In case there is tie in the poll results, post with highest judges’ scores will be announced winner/runner-up.

3. In case there is tie in both judges’ score and number of votes (as has there been the case), both the posts/blogs/bloggers have been designated as winners/runner-ups.

4. In case of categories where there were only 6 or less nominations, judges’ scores have been added post polls.

Please note that none of award results have been determined by a single individual, not even me.  In each category, there were two impartial judges, with different sensibilities,  to select 6 best posts. After that, polls have been the deciding factor unless there was a tie.

Please consider this as a formal disclaimer for the fact that these results do not represent my personal opinion. My personal opinion, may in fact, differ with the declared mandate as it is always with democratic elections. 🙂

Avant Garde Bloggies Awards – Last Two Days to Go

As you know polls are live for Avant Garde Bloggies Awards. Polls will close after 2 days. Please hop on to the Avant Garde Bloggies Awards blog to Vote for your favorite blog/blogger/post in each category.

Results will be announced on Visceral Observations on 11 December, as scheduled.

Avant Garde Bloggies Awards – Announcements

Best 6 finalists for Avant Garde Bloggies Awards have been decided in each category. Thanks to wondrous efforts by the judges! 🙂 As each category was judged by two different judges (sometimes one of them being me), panel of 8 judges proved less for 34 categories. I had to look for more judges as my existing panel of judges had enough Avant Garde work on their palette.

I wrote to professionals (writer bloggers and poetry professors), they showed interest but perhaps backed out when they realised it was voluntary work. I lost ample time in the process. I wrote to other blogger friends to judge, some of them responded too late and some of them gave up at eleventh hour due to personal and professional crisis. I understand their circumstances as it could have happened to me. In fact, it has happened to me.

Final List of Nominated Posts

Hi guys!

Here is the final list of nominations. This has been diligently sifted through by Scrutinising Committee members: Reema, Vimal, Smita and Perx. Their criteria was to ensure that nomination rules were met. This list is ready thanks to these guys who worked under the noses of their bosses, with sore eyes and exams.

I must also thank Chirag who created badges for each category, I will upload them later.

Based on this list, I can safely say that more nominations are invited for following categories:

Avant Garde Bloggies Awards – Last Day of Nominations

Avant Garde Bloggies Awards as been moving on successfully with contribution from all you readers. It is going forward with the help of several gracious volunteers.

Nominations have been overflowing. It has been a tremendous response. I have received about four times the maximum number of posts that will go for poll. Thank you, all!

Please read the following rules carefully before sending in the nominations.

Rules for Nominations

1. Only the posts published from 1st January to October 14 this year can be nominated.
2. You can nominate your own blog posts as well as blogs of your friends.
3. Anonymous nominations will be accepted as long as the post is worthy for the given category.
4. You can not nominate star bloggers like Zen Habits, Web Worker Daily, Tech Crunch and so on.
5. The nominated posts need to be original. Anything copied, from forwarded emails, books, etc is not acceptable. Nominations will be cancelled auomatclaly if the nominated post is plagiarised.
6. At least 3 nominations are required for a category. If there are less than 4 nominations, that category can be dismissed.
7. Maximum 6 nominations will be accepted for a category.
8. In case of more than 6 nominations, it will be my/panel of judges’ decision to retain the 6 best nominations for the category.
9. None of my own posts can be nominated or awarded. (after all these are my awards!)
10. I have the final authority to add and reject any nomination.

Please write in your nominations here at special Avant Garde Bloggies Awards page. Those who wish to email me their nominations are welcome. Please mention the award category along with the name of the writer and link to the blog post. In case any of these vital information is missing, nomination will be rejected.

Update:

1. Same post can not be entered in more than one category.
2. Multiple posts from same author in a single category is not preferred. The blogger/author is expected to put his best foot forward. In cases, where all entires from blogger are exceptional, the scrutinising committe members will decide how many posts they can allow from a blogger in a single category.
3. The informative category post is limited to link blogging.

Blogging Awards

It is high time I thanked graciously all the bloggers who have awarded me. Nita awarded me Brilliant blog award for my “brilliantly thoughtful posts” as she says. I am honored, specifically because, to me,  she is epitome of professional and most regular blogger I have ever known. She does it without any commercial interests. Yet, day after day she churns out informative and well-researched posts about India.

Vaibhav bestowed me with another Brilliant Weblog award and so did Roop.

Roop awarded me brilliant blog award in her painstakingly long post. You can find me at number 30 in her long list. 🙂 Thank you, Roop!
