Best 6 finalists for Avant Garde Bloggies Awards have been decided in each category. Thanks to wondrous efforts by the judges! 🙂 As each category was judged by two different judges (sometimes one of them being me), panel of 8 judges proved less for 34 categories. I had to look for more judges as my existing panel of judges had enough Avant Garde work on their palette.
I wrote to professionals (writer bloggers and poetry professors), they showed interest but perhaps backed out when they realised it was voluntary work. I lost ample time in the process. I wrote to other blogger friends to judge, some of them responded too late and some of them gave up at eleventh hour due to personal and professional crisis. I understand their circumstances as it could have happened to me. In fact, it has happened to me.
Yet Avant Garde could be made possible because my panel of judges bailed me out. I literally ordered Lallopallo in face of his busy work schedule to take up more categories. I wrote back to Muse, who sat up the night to do the scores after having a gall bladder surgery! Muse, I am touched and indebted. Inside, I feel guilty to put you to that inconvenience. Nikhil was travelling, I forced him to judge four new categories and gave him another deadline. If he failed to send me something, he was just a call away. Anshul too took up two more categories. Ditto for Nita and Withering Willow, who took up extra work despite their working schedules.
Guys, I am deeply indebted to you. If I can make any bit of success of Avant Garde, it’s due to the efforts made by you guys. Thank you! This phrase may not be enough to match up your efforts, but it certainly has my heart-felt appreciation and gratitude. If there is something I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.
As I said, I did have to get new judges, time to tell you about them:
Joseph Thomas and Ankur Sharma for Best Musical Post category
Meetu from WOGMA for Best Movie Review Category
Lemonade for Best Header Category
Sakhi for Best Culinery Post Category
Vinaya for Consumer Rights and Public Interest Post Categories
Rashmi for Best Poetic Post Category
Thank you too, guys for helping me with Avant Garde!
Polls will be live on Monday, till 6th December. Winners for Avant Garde Bloggies Awards will be announced on 11th December, as scheduled earlier. Watch this space for more information.
Notes to the Bloggers About Polling
1. In case of categories, where there were only six or less than six nomination, judges’ ratings will be added to the poll scores. In case of rest of the categories, the judges’ scores have already been used to decide 6 best posts for polling. Polling results alone will prevail in this case. In case, there is a tie in polling scores, judges’ scores will play the deciding role.
2. It has been decided that the winners for most responsive blogger and most networking blogger will be decided solely by polling. I am still to find a judge who knew all the nominee bloggers well enough to make a decision.
3. As this time, Avant Garde Bloggies Awards, did allow about 2 nominations from a blogger in a category. There have been cases where two best posts from same author has thronged dual space amongst six finalists.
Most of the judges expressed their disleasure about it, but we have retained dual place in finals only because our nomination rules DID allow dual nominations. In hindsight, I should have barred multiple nomination but I gave in to pressure from fellow bloggers. But next time around, if Avant Garde is organised yet again, this pracice will be discontinued.
