Happy New Year!

I have not been able blog for a while now. I was on a trip to Goa and Mumbai. Candolim beach goa

It was fun. I will write about it soon. πŸ™‚ Hope all you guys there celebrated new year eve with gusto.

Before I move on to write new posts of the year, I need to thank Ashish again for two (actually three) deeds.

We participated in community story-telling on his blog where all of us had to take a story forward in a comment with 10 lines at least. In lieu, Ashish created a logo for each of us who participated. Here is the logo he created for me with this tag line:

Visceral Observations

Like the sun? It’s to reflect your β€œalways shine, no matter the difficulty” attitude. )

He then created a logo for Its A Free World. That I have not been able to use very well for the blog header. Can anyone help? Here is the logo.

Its A Free World Logo

On Christmas, Ashish declared GeekWrestler 2007 blog awards. Visceral Observations received Best Series of Blog Posts Award 2007 for writing posts on consumer rights. My other team blog, Being a Blogger won Best Professional Blog 2007.

I will rewrite here my Thank you speech for the GeekWrestler 2007 blog awards:

I wish to thank my…
ah parents bcoz without them I would not be here

to Internet or how could I have found my resources and re-written about it πŸ˜›

to my fellow countrymen for giving me issues to write about or I would have been draining in writer’s block for rest of my life

and above all, my readers, poor souls who had to read my written-while-frustrated-writings. Thank you all!

Without you, this day could not have been possible. I am deeply indebted. (tongue-in-my-cheek)

Thank you, Ashish. May you have great year ahead! πŸ™‚

And Finally, wish you all and your loved ones a very Happy New Year!! πŸ™‚

Happy New Year, guruji! I’m happy you’re back btw, was kind of missing the comments.

This post is very Ashish-full btw. I want a post like this too, boohoo! 😦 Lol, just kidding. Ash rocks everybody’s socks..he’s the shit when it comes to logo designing and all. But hey, my cover for GeekWrestler and the Bisexual Vampire chicks was better!

What’s the problem you’re facing with the header by the way. Do you need to make it larger/smaller?

  6. 6 lallopallo January 4, 2008 at 5:14 pm

    New Year in Goa!!!! Cool…..
Hope you had a great one dear..

congrat for the award well deserved one.

  8. 8 Ashish January 5, 2008 at 9:07 am

LOL. Thanks. Hope your Goa trip was great. Happy new year to you too! πŸ™‚

ish: lol. My Vampiress was better. πŸ˜€ The problem with the header is that it loses quality when uploaded and I don’t think we can do anything about it as its mostly the WordPress.com uploader that reduces it to make up for larger sizes. πŸ™‚

happy new year to you too poonam

  12. 12 ish January 6, 2008 at 5:55 am

@Ash: But we can always resize it using IrfanView to the required header size and then upload. IrfanView’s resizing engine is better than WordPress’ I believe.

  13. 13 Poonam Sharma January 6, 2008 at 7:40 am

Phew! I have been very late in responding it seems.

@dinsan: I have just changed the theme for this blog. Or are you asking me to change the theme of Its A Free World and update the header?

@Nita: Thanks! You have been the torchbearer in receiving- awards-phenomenon. I saw you got a well-deserved award in Ruhi’s blog. Congrats and happy new year to you too! πŸ™‚

@ruhi and kpowerinfinity: Yup, I had a great time at both Goa and Mumbai. Fantastic!

@ish: Happy New Year, vats! Kuch seekhaya ua kaam kiya. Arre tum who kar do jo hum keh rahe hain, there will be several posts in my blog dedicated only to you, its a promise. πŸ™‚

yes, resizing the logo to header size is the problem. 😦

@lallopallo: yes, new year in goa was great but from cost point of view if I had shelled out few more thousands I could have spnt a holiday in Singapore, Bali or Malaysia. But then I am not sure had it been as fun. πŸ™‚

@praneshachar: Thanks for your wishes! Thanks for your ecard. yes, I had great fun, would share my trip details with you all.

@Ashish: Sorry buddy for so late acknowledgements. These days I am always late in blogging. What I need is a schedule to commit me.

I guess I did not miss answering anyone.

  14. 14 ish January 6, 2008 at 7:10 pm

@Poonam: Which theme do you want to use this image as a header for? I’ll see if I can resize it without messing it up.

  15. 15 ish January 6, 2008 at 9:36 pm

If it’s for the current theme you’re using on It’s a Free World..isn’t it looking good already? I don’t think it’ll be possible to resize it because the height of that header is very less.

  16. 17 Rupa January 7, 2008 at 10:09 am

Congrats Poonam. You deserve it πŸ™‚

  17. 18 Rupa January 7, 2008 at 10:11 am

    Hey Poonam

I just wanted to tell you that you are doing a commendable job thru ur blog.

    Keep it up!

    Rupa

  18. 19 Poonam Sharma January 7, 2008 at 12:07 pm

@ish: Try with Cutline or Pressrow with customizable header.

Perhaps you are right, what I have got is the best. Only I am not happy with it. 😦

@Anirudh: Same to ya.. πŸ™‚ I saw your blog. YOU seems to be a sports freak. πŸ™‚

@Rupa: Thanks! I appreciate your compliment. You do service to instruction designers in your way. I liked your latest post about those two games. πŸ™‚

  19. 20 ish January 7, 2008 at 2:06 pm

It won’t work well because the height of the headers in Pressrow and Cutline is much lesser than the width and hence the picture gets messed up. I’ve done the best I could do with Cutline. You can check it out at my test blog, the url to which I’m mentioning here. The header there has a black background but I can make it white if you think that’d be any help.

  20. 21 Poonam Sharma January 7, 2008 at 5:27 pm

Ish, I understood what you mean after seeing the test blog. So do you think it would help to create the logo in the size of header? Should I ask Ashish for that?

  21. 22 ish January 7, 2008 at 6:19 pm

Yeah, if you create the logo with respect to the dimensions of the header, it will surely work. You can safely ask Ash to do that. Tell him to make a header which has height 140 pixels and width 770 pixels and it will fit in there perfectly. That is if you’re going to use Cutline. If you’re going to use Pressrow, you’ll have to check out the dimensions of it’s header in the custom header page.
