I created a a blog at blogger listing all the blogs I write in. So here is my blog portfolio.
Here are the links to the posts that are now available on other blogs:
Learn what slum dwellers have to staying about living in the city. What if Dharavi is re-furbished? Here is the link.
UN is celebrating 16 days of activism against gender violence from 25 November to December 10. Violence is on condoned and initiated by the State. Is Saudi only country where women are oppressed? What about India? Let’s introspect here.
Featured guest this week is Nita, a journalist who blogs at A Wide Angle View of India. She talks how writing skills can be important for success of a blog, efforts to gain serious readers and her need to communicate with them. Also, how content is much more important than blog theme.
And you tell us that your weblog doesn’t own much of you? I refuse to believe! π
Interesting idea to have a central place where you write about all your blogs. Since you’ve done that on Blogger, maybe you can find yourself a better template or something.
If you are writing at so many places, might be a good idea to post weekly summaries of things you might have written at other places, so that readers don’t miss out on those.
@Ashish: My poor time management skills and other interests ensure my weblog does not own me. π
@Ish: Yeah, I know this could be better. But blogger has few template options. π¦ But I can make it more presentable.
@Kpowerinfinity: Yes, those weekly summaries need to be posted. But first I have to create a posting schedule for myself so that I am actually posting on all blogs with discipline. π
What is your name?
Don’t look for templates on Blogger itself, search Google for a template with keywords like “journalist blogger templates” or the kind of thing you want. There are some very cool ones around.
Ish, would those templates then run on blogger? I dont know how to apply. Will ask again I guess!
Poonam, for blogger templates all you need is to paste the CSS code these “journalist blogger templates” give you into your template space. π I used the Green theme for my old blog there once and I think its the best of the bunch as its neat and clean.
As for the weekly summaries, there’s thankfully a VERY better way than doing manually. Look here – http://internetducttape.com/2007/07/13/wordpress-tip-create-a-digest-post-in-3-seconds/
@Ashish: How to create digest from different blogs? And why do I need feed to do this? These howto instructions in the link you gave are ambiguous!
Poonam: One blog at a time. How about posting “WEEKLY” digests on your Blog Portfolio blog? RSS feed because Yahoo! Pipes uses your blogs RSS feed to link to the blog entries in a digest. You’ll have to change your RSS settings to something higher than 10 if you want to make a digest for a full month though. For weekly, it’s okay.
Try making one of your wordpress.com blog just for fun! π
Any ideas for making blog fun? π I thought Visceral Observations in now kinda fun…unlike It’s A Free World.
I think I also need your help to burn feeds using Feedburner. π¦
What problem are you facing with FeedBurner? I can help you with that.
Also, as Ash said, you will need to copy all the CSS that the theme will offer you and paste it in the Design part of your blogger blog. There must be a how to somewhere on Blogger.

@Ish, Ashish: I am facing problem in adding stumbleupon, digg, and convert2pdf type of options at the end of each post. I dont know how to do it.
Plus, I try to paste code for subscribe by meial in my blog. It is not appearing. I am sure I am copying the code correctly in my text widget. π¦
Any blogger template you guys like tell me. How is this one? Didnt do much search? Now where will I find CSS code for a template?
You can search Google by typing something like “free blogger templates” and when you like a template, click on it and the website will give you the CSS code which you can copy and paste.
And I don’t know how widgets work in Blogger, I haven’t used it in ages. You could ask somebody who has a blog on Blogger though, maybe Lemonade..but I don’t think you’ll get a reply before a month. Maybe Ash knows. And those Digg, Stumbleupon have very complicated ways to set up on Blogger as well. Maybe you’ll find a way if you search “Social Bookmarks for Blogger Blogs” on Google. I was never able to set them up on my blogger blog though. They’re easy only on WordPress.org blogs because they can be used as pre-made widgets.
@Ish: I want stumbleupon, digg, and convert2pdf type of options at the end of each post in WordPress. I could not find option at Feedburner. π¦
Yes, I searched blogger templates. Found some. Posted one for you for feedback in last comment? How is it? As for CSS, I see template download option, not yet CSS.
Poonam: You want the stumbleupon etc. like its set in my feed right? The options for the Feedburner buttons are in the Feed Dashboard. Select your feed in My Feeds, then go to Optimize -> Feed Flare. Select the FeedFlares you want for your feed and/or blog [for the blog flares, only works on Blogger as wordpress.com doesn’t allow you to meddle with your code.], drag them around in the view to arrange them as you want and then ACTIVATE the service. If you selected them only for the feed, they should appear automatically at the end of every post. If you also selected for the blog, then you’ll be given some code to paste.
As for the subscribe to mail, just get the url and link to it rather than copy the whole code. Select a static button if you can. WordPress doesn’t allow javascript or flash in the text widgets.
Hope this helps. π
*Feed Dashboard in FeedBurner, not your WordPress Dashboard. π
@Poonam: That blogger code didn’t appear in the last comment.
@Ashish: I got the steps now. I will try and burn now. I will ping you though if there is something amiss. π
@ish:here is the code for a template:
http://3columnsbloggertemplate.blogspot.com/2007/09/beautiful-red-apple.html
Here is a link from Mashable that has 50 template samples:
http://mashable.com/2007/09/13/blogger-templates/
Tell me the ones you like.
How do you bog via mails?
Poonam: Here at http://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_by_Email. Hope it helps!
The page has nothing! π¦
Poonam: So did that work?
Nova: Do they allow “pen drives” in the office? If so you might load some portable applications on it and use them to blog for e.g. firefox with Scribefire or perhaps some offline blog application.
@Ashish: I dont know. She wrote, she could not see the text. But I am hoping it worked after I sent the text as Word attachment. She has been blogging fine though.
Hey, check out the blogger templates in the link given in one of my earlier comments and tell me which one you like?
Poonam: I meant the Feedburner tip. π
@Ashish: Clear hoke bolne ka! π
I burnt feed for Its A Free World successfully and changed template for my blogger blog at http://poonamblogportfolio.blogspot.com/.
Thanks to you and Ish for telling me. π
Will trouble you more when stuck. π
Whats more clear than that? π
Will trouble you more when stuck.
Anytime. But you owe me a lunch! π
I thought you said you would not go out on lunches n dinners with me. You see I am vegetarian and feed only vegetarian. π
Well when I’m recovering loans, I’ll take anything. Hell I’d settle for Chhole or that Aloo Kabli thingy! π
Well you are welcome anytime for Chole and Aloo Kabli, you would like Aloo Kabli if you like spice and it has flavor of tamarind water, it is garnished with chana, coconut, some namkeen, cucumber (if you make it at home)..IT is typical girlie stuff I used to think. But you can’t imagine the number of men who would flock the stalls to eat it.
You could bring Bombay bhelpuri in return, I love it. π
