Well, I have been fancifully π tagged by articulate Ish, to republish my first post. This tagging is part of Kirk’s blogging project. While I recalled my first post during the day, I laughed at its innocuousness. And I thanked Frank.
Well, who is Frank? To explain this, I need to perhaps explain my profession. I am an instruction designer who designs training programs for corporate and universities. Most of the clients that I have worked so far have been US. India still has to catch up with the concept of instruction design.
Well, as an instruction designer, I develop create training programs on varied subjects like game designing, business administration, corporate analysis, motivating teams, criminal law and procedures, and so on. Of course, I have no knowledge of these subjects and yet we develop training programs. Who makes it possible? A subject matter expert (SME) who is practicing in the field. He is the one who writes all the content, me only design and present it.
So I started interacting with my course writer Frank Zafiro, who is a Sergeant in US. One fine day, I just clicked his blog URL that was part of his signature. I was transported into a completely different world. I discovered Frank was also a successful crime fiction writer whose stories and anthologies have been published in various magazine. His blog is listed under my blogroll.
I wrote to Frank about his blog and promised to start mine soon. I think the kind of person that I am as the Colorgenics test tells me that I can be supremely laid back. It is quite possible that I would not have started my blog for another few months (or years?), had I not made that promise to start my blog. I thank Frank that his blog motivated me enough to make that voluntary promise. π
My first post was, surprisingly, very brief and goes like this:
“I donβt think that I need to change the title for my first post. It was already provided in the existing template of my blog. This title is so apt for my first post. This is to inform the world of Web that I have finally arrived. It was long awaited by friends. I too had been thinking to start my blog since a long long while ago. I had promised Frank, my friend, that I will soon start a blog. Here it is!“
Hmmm, whom should I tag? I tag the wannabe journalist Dinsan and Nishu, whose blog was recently suspended by wordpress without any warning.
P.S: I would love it if Frank wrote about his first post.
Ooh, so you did the Colorgenics test too. How did it turn out for you?
Anyway, thanks for taking up the challenge. How is everything going?
Ah, another taker. This blogging project seems to be picking up some steam here. Good deal!
Just wanted to drop by and thank you for joining in. I’ll add you to the list tonight or by the latest tomorrow morning. And thanks for passing the word! π
Oh yes, Ish I would have certainly done this. Even if you had tagged me for an insipid meme (though not all memes all insipid), I would ave still done it out of my affection for you π It may sound bit strange but that’ s true.
I took the colorgenics test after reading in your blog, it said mostly good things but two things struck me for the truth in them: 1) I was very laid back. 2) I am currently very tired and stressed and need a peaceful environment to put across some good projects that I have in mind.
So I am now working on the latter. π
@Kirk: Your project is interesting. It kicks off very early memories of the blog. π Thanks for adding me in your list. May the project pass on…
hey lady ,
i meant to replace my old link in ur url π

CLUELESS π
more over the project says those who are blogging for more than a year or so .. I was blogging on multiply .. as in not blogging but adding albums music n stuff like tht .
Nishu, you are well eligible. Neither am I a year old blogger.
I saw your rocking blog on wordpress, even if your first post was on Multiply or wordpress, you should post it. I will be happy to read it. π Because you have been blogging on so many new platforms, it makes all the sense to republish your first post…
And I did link your new blog URL in my blogroll… π
Thank you Poonam π
correct the link to Nishu’s blog π
Dinsan, it is corrected long since now π this is is new blog…
ok that nishu links to http://http//nishu-apocalypse.blogspot.com/ with double http: and that wont help π
Poonam,
You’ve got a nice blog and good to know that you’re doing your bit to change the country for better
@Dinsan…Oh you meant the link in the post..i thought u meant nishu’s link in the blogroll….that was incorrect too, Nishu made me correct it. π
Hey Pradeep, thanks for the compliment..I don’t know if country can be changed by my writing..but I sure do believe in my right to air my voice. But compliment like yours are great motivators…Thanks again…
Nice! :)… Good stuff.. Was going through Kirk’s pos ton the Blogging Project… I haven’t been around for over a year.. so I wonder if I can re-publish my first post..! :).. But it sounds interesting nonetheless!..
Oh!… and whats more interesting is your occupation… .Instructional designer.. Not bad at all.. I had designed a course for graduating engineers.. to sort of polish them before entering the IT Industry… and i Quite liked doing that….. Way to go Poonam! π
hey Amyth…glad that you dis express your appreciation…it reminds me of what Kirk wrote in repnse to my appreciation…this is the only I get to know that what I am doing is right..thanks Amyth….and yes I became instructional designer by chance..now I chucked up a job offer in a channel (i studied journalism, you see) to continue with it…I have had no regret my decision so far… π
If you ever wanna share your experiences about instruction design or anything about it, don’t hesitate to drop me a mail.
an instruction designer
The person who invents instructions that are found on things like.. I dunno bandages? π Just kidding.
my course writer Frank Zafiro
I think I’ve heard the name before, don’t know where but it surely wasn’t from books/writing…
Is it just me or does everyone have short first posts? Ish has the record of the shortest one, lol.
Ashish, you might be surprised to know that actually there are some video sites as well where they teach step by step how to tie shoe laces!! P π ….and other things that you could not have imagined required teaching. I think the site is called videojugs.
Though instruction design is much more than step by step teaching, do you know if an instructional designer were to get a noble prize, in which category would they get it?
Frank has taken Zafiro as his pen name. A google search would yield several interviews and articles by him.
you could not have imagined required teaching
Like building a Flame Thrower, a Puke Collector machine or teaching people how to climb trees! [I got them from bored.com]
Um, Peace Prize? [Thats frankly the only category I know..]
No, I don’t think it was google or anything, it was something different. I still can’t land on what.
ha ha..now that sounds weird but I would not be surprised if some of the things you mentioned have already been imagined and created by someone…
Nah..noble prize for instruction design will go under Economics category 8) …also, instruction design came into being to enhance the efficiency of employees…and then the concept expanded…
Ok, must have come across some where..
I am sorry I was so long in replying to this post, Poonam. I have saved your email about it intending to reply and it just always seemed to be moved down the priority list just as I was about ready to do it. Today I said, “This is number one and it is getting done!”
For your fellow bloggers and conversationalists, if they take a trip to my website, they’ll see that I have two published novels in my River City series and over 50 short stories in a variety of magazines, online magazines and book anthologies. Most of those stories are “River City” stories, meaning that they share the same setting and often the same characters as the two novels (“Under a Raging Moon” and “Heroes Often Fail” — the third, “Beneath a Weeping Sky” is due out next Fall…I’m writing it now)
I’ve actually moved to my third blog, as far as format goes. I started with MSN Spaces (http://frankzafiro.spaces.live.com/), then used a blogger tool provided by my ISP provider (http://frankzafiro.com/v-web/b2/) and now I use Blogspot as the home for my blog (http://frankzafiro.blogspot.com/). Blogspot has been the easiest to use and edit so far and I’m happy with it.
My first actual blog entry, as Poonam requested, is impossible — MSN spaces seems to have cut off my Februrary 2005 entries…so how about the first entry in my second blog in September of 2005? Here it is:
“Well, my new BLOG is here and I am working on the new website. Iβm a noob at web-publishing, so Iβm doing the best I can.
This is where Iβll discuss my short stories and novels, as well as my efforts (and hopefully some successes) to get them published.
Hopefully the site will be up and running soon.
Welcome aboard for the next ‘chapter.'”
Thanks, Poonam, for asking. If anyone decides they are interested in my books, Amazon and other Internet booksellers carry both titles. I’d love to hear from anybody who reads them — your impressions, what you liked and didn’t.
Frank
Hey, Frank good to have your reply. π I never knew you now blogged at blogspot.
And you seem to pretty busy. Your third book is also on the way! Kudos π
