The flurry of both sms and e-mails received today makes me think of Holi that was on 4th March. Four days later, women’s day wishes and messages piled up with same zest they had on Holi. Does that mean women is more respected and enpowered in my country now when we have started celebrating the spirit of the day?
I could not believe it when HR department of the company where I work appears with goodie bags meant to be distributed among women. We were given beautiful roses that had all thorns well hiddden in a glittering plastic. (How apt!)
There were other goodies and chocolates for us. For once, greedy men at work were really J.
I do not know what happen to billions of other women especially those who inhabit the countryside. I revelled in the day. 🙂
But I need to find out about others.
unfortunately, like most of us, u have also been subjected to rosy side of this day.. fact is quite different…
they are abused and exploited in even urban society almost always in a subtle way..so much that the victim herself does not realise it…
you may get some of my opinion if u visit the following link…

Poonam: Nah, I have no rosy view of the day. I have a clear picture how world is harsh at large. Therefore, we started a blog just few days ago to write about these things. Here is the link: http://itsafreeworld.wordpress.com/.
by the way… U were lucky in receiving the goodie bag and the rose … we didn’t get anything on that day.
🙂
Poonam: Hmm, so you are from NIIT after all? Now why wouldn’t you get it. HR did go to all the departments personally that day?
Well.. u caught me! 🙂 yeah… am or was from NIIT… 🙂 but as they say, once an NIITian, always an NIITian..
I guess we have met, too! I was in the first batch of Metamorphosis… not an active participant, though… (couldn’t be active for you-know-what reasons)
How did the Metamorphosis go, finally? Any second batch??
And as for your comment about everybody getting the goodie bag and the rose…well, I guess I was one of the unlucky few who were not in the list…. for whatever reasons….. 😦
Poonam: Hmm, so you have left. I do not remember your face, Somdutta. As for second batch, I had an opportunity to run second batch. Truly! Can’t write here. We will have to catch up in mail.
Sure!
You can write to me at somdotta dot mukherjee at honeywell dot com! I will be happy to see your mail in my inbox!
